The MOC welcomes Dr. Lucy Guerra to the clinic on Tuesday mornings

Dr. Lucy Guerra is a distinguished medical professional with a multifaceted background in public health and clinical medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Premedical Sciences & American Studies from Amherst College in 1991, followed by a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology from Florida International University in 1992. Dr. Guerra completed her medical education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1997, before undertaking an internship at The Weil Cornell- Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City in 1998, and residency training at the University of Wisconsin in 2000.

Dr. Guerra currently serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida. Previously, she held prominent roles including Division Director & Associate Program Residency Director at the University of South Florida (USF) Department of Medicine, as well as Medical Director positions at the Tampa Bay Crisis Center and Gulf Coast Jewish Community Services & Victims of Torture.

Outside her professional commitments, Dr. Guerra is deeply involved in volunteer work, demonstrating her commitment to community service. In addition to the time she spends at MOC, she also serves as a Faculty Volunteer at the UF Equal Access Clinic. In Tampa, Dr. Guerra dedicates her time to the USF Tampa Bay Street Medicine Refugee Clinic and serves as a Courtesy Faculty Advisor for the USF Bridge Clinic, which caters to the underserved population. Dr. Guerra also volunteers as a Lector at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Dr. Guerra’s contributions to her field have been recognized through various honors and awards. In 2023, she received the American College of Physicians Quality Connect Award and the USF SOLA Award for Latinos: Faculty Award for Teaching. In 2024, she was honored with the Florida Blue Community Health Sapphire Award, further highlighting her commitment to improving community health and education.
