Direct Relief’s Fund for Health Equity awards $1.3 Million to The Southern Birth Justice Network and the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic

Direct Relief announced over $1.3 million in grants from its Fund for Health Equity to improve maternal health outcomes in underserved areas. The Southern Birth Justice Network and the University of Florida Mobile Outreach Clinic received the funding, made possible by a CVS Health Foundation donation.

The Southern Birth Justice Network will use the grant to support marginalized communities and help establish the National Black Midwives Alliance as a nonprofit.

The University of Florida Mobile Outreach Clinic will create a perinatal mobile health clinic to serve rural women at high risk of poor birth outcomes, offering comprehensive care and training community health workers.

Since 2021, the Fund has provided over $50 million to 163 organizations across the U.S., selected by an advisory council of health leaders.
